Closes #230.

Mortality

  • liuverse-sim::mortality judges falls by surface, vehicle hits by speed and a named Heft, and wall crashes by how much of a fast frame the wall ate.
  • Falls sit well above the spread-eagle splat: an ordinary bad landing splats and recovers, only a very high fall is fatal. Soft ground is the comic reprieve.
  • Light vehicles trip, medium and heavy vehicles kill at speed, and a fast ride stopped hard by a wall kills its driver.
  • K takes the quick way out on demand, dismounting from a seat first.
  • The victim client owns the call. A death freezes the body, switches to third person, shows a big death card, and respawns it at the last safe ground after the death bit, with a short spawn shield.
  • The death teleport is its own thing: a red ascent with a bone skull rising out of the old spot, and a green descent onto the new one.
  • A player first seen on the wire also gets the green spawn descent at their feet, so a join reads as an arrival.
  • ClientMsg::Died and ServerMsg::Death are append-only wire additions. The server rate-limits deaths, frees the victim’s seat, resolves the driver from its own fleet, and broadcasts the cause. The feed is composed from ids, never free-form text.
  • Other clients see the death feed in the top left, with the name set apart from the phrase, and a short splatted corpse. Chat, voice and inventory survive death.

Speedometer

  • Shows while riding any vehicle, bottom center: a digital km/h readout and a bar against the kind's top speed.
  • Measures the distance the body actually covered, so a drift or a collision cannot make the number claim speed the vehicle did not travel. It reads the locally predicted ride online, so it answers the key before the server snapshot does.

Deliberately left for later

The death cam orbit, ragdoll beyond the existing splat pose, sound stings, chalk outlines, death bingo and a mortality opt-out setting are not in this slice.

just check passes.
