A stairwell, a tiled corridor and an open field should not sound the same. Simple reverb zones — room, corridor, stairwell, tunnel, bus — would make footsteps and voice tell you where you are before you look. It is one of the strongest spatial cues a game can have.
How it fits. The baked world has building floors, rooms and circulation, so a reverb zone can be derived from the room the listener is in and the one the source is in. A small feedback-delay and allpass network per zone is cheap enough on the CPU; crossfade between zones as the player moves.
liuverse-voicealready mixes voice, so the same send can feed the reverb.Scope.
