From the 0.4 roadmap ("Find your people"): create an account from the login page, the way jskom can (create-person).

needs/user (roadmap open question 2): does kom.lysator.liu.se accept new accounts made from a client, and are there rules (real names, a presentation, an agreement) we should show before creating one? lyskomd has a server setting for whether anyone may create persons. The login page should ask the server and only offer sign-up where it's allowed.

Sketch:

  • A "Skapa konto" link on the login page: name, password twice, and then log in straight away.
  • Then a short first step: write a presentation (with a template), and join a few recommended channels (from the channel directory issue).
  • The server's rules, if any, shown before creating.
  • Errors said plainly (name taken, name not allowed, the server doesn't allow it).

e2e: against the devserver, which allows it.

Answered (D-046): kom.lysator.liu.se accepts new accounts, with no specific policy. So the login page offers 'Skapa konto' wherever the server allows it, with no rules step. No longer needs/user.

Merged in #164 (D-046). 'Ny här? Skapa ett konto' on the login page:

  • The form takes a name (with a hint), the password twice, and a note not to reuse it.
  • It's checked before sending, then connects as for logging in, runs create-person (89) and logs in with the new account.
  • The server's refusals are said plainly.
  • The login form now also reads the server field on submit (a race found by relay.spec).

Not included: the presentation step (with profiles, #151) and recommended channels (#150).

Verified: signup.spec on desktop, Android and iPhone; the remember, tls, relay and _visual specs; screenshots checked; CI green.
