User (D-052, point 7): "I have yet to get notifications on the desktop application to work, I cklicked the "send a test notification" button and unfocused the app, but nothing happens."
Desktop on Linux sends through org.freedesktop.Notifications with zbus (tokio backend). Things to check: does the call return at all (a stuck call would leave "Den kommer om fem sekunder" on screen), does it error, does the daemon drop it (app name/icon/desktop entry), and non-Linux builds just say "unsupported". Reproduce with the packaged build and a real notification daemon; add a test that the test button ends in Shown or a visible error.
Fixed in #191 (merged). Cause: Cinnamon and GNOME Shell withdraw an app's notifications when the D-Bus connection that sent them closes (Cinnamon js/ui/notificationDaemon.js, _onNameVanished, for senders matched to an app window). NeoKOM opened a connection per notification and dropped it, so the test said "Sent" and the notification vanished. Now one connection is kept for the app's lifetime, plus the desktop-entry hint. Verified with a unit test playing the daemon's part on a private dbus-daemon (fails without the fix, passes with it); CI now runs the desktop unit tests (run #321 green). Not yet seen on a real Cinnamon desktop: needs a build from main.
