Orienteering is the most Swedish way to make a forest playable. A course of checkpoints, a map with only the controls marked, and a compass: find them in order, on foot, without the GPS dot. It is a race of navigation rather than speed, and Vallaskogen is already baked.

How it fits. The terrain, paths and forest areas are in the bake; a course is a list of control points with a map and a punch card. The player's pose already gives position and heading; the map mode already exists. The challenge is to hide the player marker while the course runs, or to offer a hard mode that does.

Scope.

  • Authored courses with control points and a printable map.
  • A punch interaction at each control, in order.
  • A timer, a split list and a finish.
  • A compass and a map that hides the player dot in hard mode.
  • Offline and online leaderboards.
