A power outage changes the campus more than any weather event: the windows go dark, the streetlights die, the emergency lights come on, and the stars appear. It is a scheduled event that makes the same walk tense and makes a flashlight or a candle valuable.
How it fits. Day/night and building lights are already server-owned. A blackout is a lighting state that turns off the emissive windows and lamps, keeps emergency exits lit, and raises the night sky. The event clock can schedule it; a manual trigger is useful for films. Interior lights can be per-building so a few backup circuits stay on.
Scope.
