Pasting an image or dropping an image file on the composer puts it in the composer's file field, as if picked, and fires its change event: preview, scaling and the re-scale on send are the picker's (#33).
Text pastes and drops without files are untouched. A hint under the image field says it can be done.

Verified: new paste.spec.ts on desktop/Android/iPhone (a text paste isn't intercepted; a pasted PNG becomes the image with name, type and preview; a dropped one replaces it); looked at the screenshot; clippy native/wasm/desktop clean.

Ctrl+V a screenshot or drop a photo anywhere on the composer: it goes
into the composer's file field as if picked there, so preview, scaling
and the re-scale on send are the picker's. Text pastes are untouched. A
