The campus has 71 highway=crossing nodes and 60 crossing-tagged
traffic nodes
, plus crossing:island (43, 9 of them yes) and
traffic_calming (36: 14 tables, 9 rumble strips, 5 humps, 5 chokers, 1
chicane). All of it is ignored.

highway=crossing is a point on a road, which is exactly the shape area-fill
zones and AREA_* decals already take, and the decal pipeline already exists
with a depth bias and a z-fight ladder (mesh::AREA_HEIGHTS). A zebra or a
marked crossing is a small striped polygon at the node.

crossing:traffic_signals (16) is different -- that is a pole with a head, so it
wants to be a prop rather than a decal. That is arguably its own issue; the paint is
the cheap half.

The signal heads are in. The paint is not.

highway=traffic_signals now bakes as PROP_TRAFFIC_SIGNAL, a pole with a head (dafe0e3). That was the part this issue called "arguably its own issue", so it is out of the way.

The paint is still missing: the 71 highway=crossing nodes and the 60 crossing-tagged traffic nodes draw nothing. A zebra is a small striped polygon at the node, and the decal ladder with its depth bias and z-fight ladder is already there.

barrier=kerb is the boundary of the same thing and is still unbaked (#19).

Two details from the current extract, to go with the above.

The signal poles that bake are the 5 highway=traffic_signals nodes. The crossings' own signals are a different tag, crossing:signals, and there are 16 of them, so those are still unbaked.

The paint data is there too: 1 crossing=zebra, 1 crossing=marked, 5 crossing:markings=yes, 9 crossing:island=yes, and 60 crossing tags in all (42 uncontrolled, 11 traffic_signals, 4 informal, 1 unmarked). The marked and the zebra crossings are the ones worth painting.
