barriers_of (osm.rs:199) takes fence, wall, hedge and
guard_rail. The extract has 154 barrier nodes and ways, the rest
unused:

 59 hedge 33 fence 24 gate 10 wall
  6 block 6 kissing_gate 5 entrance 5 kerb
  1 bollard 1 cycle_barrier 1 swing_gate 1 cattle_grid
  1 handrail 1 retaining_wall

Worth having:

  • retaining_wall -- the campus is on a hill with graded pads, and a retaining
wall is a visible piece of that, not a fence
  • gate and block -- the campus perimeter
  • bollard -- a point prop along roads
  • kerb -- thin, and barrier=kerb is really a boundary, not something to
    stand 1.1 m tall

All of it stays render-only, as the existing ones are: barrier_tris is never
collided, so a stray line cannot trap the player. Keep that.

block (6) is the Bollnäs-block thing; it is a wall, not a cube.

Most of the list is baked. Two kinds are not.

The barrier nodes now bake as props with models: gate and swing gate, bollard, block, kissing gate, cycle barrier and cattle grid (dafe0e3). They are point props, not the 1.1 m line barriers_of draws for fence, wall, hedge and guard rail, and they are never collided, so the rule that a stray line cannot trap the player still holds.

What is missing is retaining_wall, which is the one worth having: the campus is on a hill with graded pads, and a retaining wall is a visible piece of that. And barrier=kerb, which is thin and is a boundary rather than something to stand 1.1 m tall.
